We’re Looking For Plan B

October 22, 2024 – Day 12
Point of Rocks Campground, Prescott AZ

(Sorry for the click-bait title, titling short blogs is hard. This is a short blog.)

Not a lot happened today. Paul fixed the broken DC to DC charger. Our new batteries are wonderful but we’re still running out and left wondering why. Well, before the trip Paul blew a 200A fuse trying to fix the hydraulic pump that runs the jacks and slides. It turns out that that also blew the 60A circuit breaker for the DC-DC charger which is that device charges the house batteries from the RV alternator while driving. Resetting a circuit breaker should be easy, right? Not if you have to partially disassemble part of the electric bay.

To get that shot Paul shot he had to video while sticking his hand deep into the electrical stuff. Everything was powered down at the time so he was safe. See that gizmo on the right? The tiny red lever needed to be pushed down

Then he had to test it, which meant going to battery power and wasting energy, which involved running the microwave a lot.

Susan took the opportunity to get some groceries. Yes, it is Paul’s month. He offered to let her disassemble the battery bay and she declined.

Also during the day Susan got her phone off of the AT&T plan and Paul’s off of Spectrum one. We’ve both been sort of unhappy with our plans. Spectrum has been a disaster for Paul and Susan’s hotspot wasn’t enough when we travel. The two issues together was making digital life tough. After failed attempts to port our numbers, and what seemed like a really long time, we both went to Verizon. Except that went poorly (no fault of the rep). We spent about two hours that evening at the Verizon store. Susan came home with a working phone and Paul had a new Prescott, AZ number, which they promised would get fixed the next day when a certain department was open.

We also waited most of the day for a text back from the Mobile RV repair person. At 6pm he told us he couldn’t do it until Friday. We should be in Phoenix by then. We’re looking for plan B.
