Crab Cakes and Taxes
April 14, 2025 — Day 9
Lums Pond State Park, Bear DE
Paul’s brother John came to visit today so not much of a blog. We had lunch at the Route 40 Diner. We had eaten there before and loved it (it’s possible you might remember the neon glow). Paul had 2 massive crab cakes but was jealous of his brother’s choice which flounder stuffed with crab! Susan went with her diner favorite, the Monte Cristo.

On the way back we saw this cool bike. We had passed it on the way in, Paul grabbed his camera, aka his phone, and managed to get off this lucky shot.

There must be a sad story about this house, it doesn’t look like it burned. Parts seem to have either fallen down or hollowed out.

We were all feeling like we’d had Thanksgiving dinner after the very large lunch (that really felt like lunch/dinner). Paul and John went for a short walk to the water.

John headed back home and around 7:30 or 8pm. Paul and Susan finally had a snack. We both probably could have waited until later, but then it is getting really late to eat and we both wondered if we’d wake up hungry in the middle of the night.
April 15, 2025 — Day 10
Tax Day!
Over breakfast Paul joked that we could make it to the library in Carbondale Illinois to file our taxes. Studious readers of this blog will remember we were there last year waiting for the eclipse.
As usual, Turbox was a jerk. This took way longer than any reasonable person could be expected to endure. It wasn’t all dismal though, Paul had succumbed to his “buy weird drinks when on the road” habit at the Safeway a few days ago, so he had this with lunch. It was very good!

Later on that evening we met our neighbors who had 5 show pugs. There were doing an agility event in a few days, may know someone we know, and then coming back here to Lums Pond which is taken over by dogs for a dog event!
Then we played Trains. Paul won, but not by much, eeking out a 20 point route on his last turn!
