A Ticket To Ride
March 24, 2024 – Day 9
Cherry Hill Park, College Park MD
Today was a quiet day. Ann had her Sunday morning chores & shopping to do to get ready for the work week. We had our morning stuff to do which entailed filling and draining the water and sewage tanks (nothing new there).
Then Paul went to put air in the low tire on the Jeep. Only he hooked up the air compressor backwards, burning it out. We’ll replace it in Phoenix.
The final chore was debugging the power issue we had the other day. The good news is that our coach is not broken electrically and we can show that the failure is on the pedestal!
We determined this with the help from FaceBook’s Tiffin Technical Group and a multimeter.
See that 16 volt measurement? That should be 120v. We’d sort of like to bring this to the park’s attention, but, you know, we already have. Paul wanted a photo of the failure from our EMS, so he plugged the 50A circuit back in.
It worked fine.
Electricity just magic, or maybe voodoo. We’re going with Voodoo.
Ann came over and we set about deciding on a lunch venue. She had warned us about Sunday in DC and if it was nice out (it was) it could be a problem for brunch. Further complicating things was that Paul really wanted more crab cakes. Shellfish makes Susan’s belly hit reverse. FINALLY we found a place nearby that had crab cakes and non-shellfish items. Then, Surprise! Paul noticed that crab cakes were THIRTY NINE DOLLARS. We looked for another place. When we arrived Susan said “Three, please” to the host who sneered, raised an eyebrow, let out a “god you’re an idiot” sigh coinciding with “You don’t have a reservation?” (susan here: He was SUCH a piece of work that it was actually amusing.) Dude, you’re in a shoebox size restaurant, a half an hour outside DC in a strip mall. You’re not working for Gordon Ramsay so drop the pretentiousness. Whatever will your hero, heroine and their cohort do for lunch! Huh. Let’s see…we’re in a strip mall so go to one of the other 5 restaurants? We ordered some sandwiches and brought them back to the RV sans waitstaff attitude.
We three decided that today was going to be a slow day. To that end we were going to play a boardgame or two. Ann was introduced to our favorite board game, Ticket to Ride. Susan thrashed all of us, soundly. It was such a shellacking that they’ve modified the dictionary definition of shellacking to include that game and a picture of her.
Paul left to go in search of bits he ordered from Home Depot. Later the three of us watched a movie, Despicable Me, had a nice quiet supper. Earlier we had a lovely sourdough boule Ann had gotten that morning at the farmers’ market as part of her Sunday morning activities. It was a low key and relaxing day.
Hey Siri, add “bread knife” to the groceries list.
Tomorrow we hit the road again. eading south.
