Birds on the Brain,  RV

Brrrr….

April 7, 2025 — Day 2

Redmond Fleet, Hudson, NH — Northwoods Brewery, Northwood NH

We both woke up around 5AM, it was just too cold to sleep, worse it was too cold to get up. We ventured out of bed briefly to tend to nature’s call then dove back under the covers & stayed in bed until the last minute, somewhere around 7 am and turned ourselves into ice cubes. Susan got the Thermapen & it said it was 57 degrees in the coach. Brr! We drank coffee (susan) and tea (paul), and watched the falling snow waiting for Redmond Fleet to open up at 8AM.

Easy key drop-off then breakfast! We had an amazing breakfast at Janie’s Uncommon Diner just down the road in Londonderry NH. Highly recommended. Ask for an extra couple plates because you’re going to want to sample everyone else’s fare.

Then it was back to Keene where we found they had real snow, more than over in Hudson!

First to the house to turn the hot water heater back on because…showers! Then pick up packages at our shipping address, then to town hall to get the duplicate registrations. Paul had noticed the Jeep didn’t have current registration in the glove box. We found out why when we got to town hall. We never registered it! Been driving that Jeep since November and never got stopped. Even more curiously, we’d traveled back from Phoenix w/out proper stickers on the vehicles and never got stopped. Then off to both bike stores in town to try to buy a bike alarm locally. We failed, so we went to JeffBezos.com again, sigh. Back home for showers and then back off to Hudson to Redmond Fleet. But no! Paul found a propane place just down the street from Redmond and we decided to have a look/see but it was too small to put an RV in the lot.

Redmond told us to go to Campers Inn in Merrimack which as a bird would fly was closer than the 40 minute roundabout way! We got there with 20 minutes to spare before the propane tech left for the day. It would have been another night of extra blankets and hoping the water tank didn’t freeze. Finally we could get to today’s destination in Northwood, NH (just east of Concord, ok, a little bit more than “just”) to Northwoods Brew Pub our Harvest Host for the night.

We had a tough time leveling the RV. We’re really trying to not use the leveling jacks. We want to remove them to reclaim some of the added weight when we installed the new suspension. We could really use that 270lbs that removing that system would give us. It was hard but we learned a lot about how to read the ground.

Inside we had amazing pizza and beer. Paul doesn’t like beer but he liked 2 of his 4 in his flight and was glad he tried the others. We both loved the sourdough thin crust pizza. (susan here: I can see us being over here for some reason looking for a diner/pizza and stopping in.)

Now for the maps. If you want to see the map of the trip the Jeep made, just look at yesterday’s blog and do it twice. :- )
