You Can Check Out Anytime You Want
October 15, 2024 – Day 5
Prophetstown State Park, Battle Ground, IN — Liquid Spring, Lafayette, IN
The prairie was beautiful in the morning, as was the ham radio antenna.
We had a late start since the tires wouldn’t be in until noon. So Paul did some more radio that morning, he had a very busy time, very intense.
He expects you to all be impressed.
On the way out of the park, we had to drop off the trash. Susan found the name of the trash KAN company very amusing.
(Paul here, next time you see her, tell her that the trash can pictures was funny.)
We had planned to go to the tire place first, but then Paul realized that the security wrench for the tire pressure monitors was in the Jeep’s toolbox. Change of plans, 1st stop the Jeep dealer to pick up the Jeep.
They were relieved inside to find out that we weren’t bring the RV in for an oil change!
Back to the tire shop. Now we can say Susan has driven inside more than Paul has driven inside.
Lights, camera, action!
And now for the bad news.
This brake rotor must be replaced. The tire place recommended that we call Lafayette Fleet Services. The good news is that they could take us in at 8AM tomorrow. We thought we’d spend the night in their parking lot since we need to be there at 8AM. We left Best One Tire and drove over to look at it first hand. Map views can only give you so much information. It deep in a busy part of town and at an intersection. It would be noisy all night. We went back to Liquid Spring so we could figure out what our next move would be; drive back to Prophetstown (about 40 minutes of driving round trip) or “mooch dock” in their parking lot. Less driving won especially with the early appointment. We decided on staying at Liquid Spring. We asked and they said it was okay.
The real bad news? We think Paul’s brother, John, leaves Springfield IL tomorrow. At the end of tomorrow he’ll probably be ahead of us. And here we thought we’d be ahead of him by now. Best laid plans of mice, men and RV travelers often go awry.
